That's right folks! There is now a phobia of loosing your cellphone. This rather bizarre, but rather common phobia has been titled nomophobia, and approximately 66 percent of people have it.
At first I was rather shocked by how many people have nomophobia, I mean really people are afraid of not having a cellphone by their side? A cellphone is an object with no conscious mind, it's literally a piece of metal with fancy programing!
However this piece of metal with fancy programing is our connection to others around us, it allows us to have a conversation with a person miles away, send instant messages to each other, and keep in contact with our loved ones. It is also a source of instant entertainment, education, a way to store and preserve memories, and gather new ideas from around the world.
Our cellphones do all these things for us with such a convenience that we now cannot live without in our ever-advancing technological society.
So is it really surprising that so many people have nomophobia? If you were to loose your cellphone, you would no longer be able to contact anybody, that instant source to communication and information would be lost forever, for all of eternity....
Maybe that's a bit over dramatic....
Or is it?
so cilien, she cries every time she losses he cell phone
ReplyDeleteI swear I must have this. I remembered I was on the bus and my phone died, and I had an anxiety attack. Oh well guess your only human.
DeleteYou know you've got Nomophobia when you try calling your lost pencil with your phone..
ReplyDeleteI think you mean 'lose' and not 'loose' ?
ReplyDeleteCan't deem yourself as a nerd and have incorrect spelling!
